Real Ale’s Richard Sharp, technical advisor and wholesale events supremo, enjoyed a fantastic weekend of brewing recently with Anspach & Hobday, based in Bermondsey.
The Real Ale team takes every opportunity to increase its knowledge of beer and brewing so when Richard was invited to be involved with re-brewing Anspach & Hobday’s Thy Art is Murder ‘Black Citra Sour’, by a former employee, he jumped at the chance.
Thy Art is Murder is named after a Deathcore metal band from Australia and is one of Paul Anspach’s (owner of A&H) favourite bands. It’s a dark 3.5% kettle soured brew with lashings of Citra hops. Richard spent the Easter Bank Holiday weekend with A&H and was involved in everything from selecting the grains, stirring in the malts to thoroughly cleaning the brew house! He will be going back soon to give the team a hand with hand bottling and kegging once the beer is ready. We will be stocking ‘Black Citra Sour’ in both Twickenham and Formosa Street as soon as its ready – so you can sample his handiwork soon.
